“Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.” – Kahlil Gibran
TRAUMA COUNSELLING

Trauma Counselling
Trauma robs you of the feeling that you are in control of yourself. The challenge of recovery is to find yourself again and reconnect with your body and your mind, essentially reconnecting with your authentic self. This means feeling free to know what you know and to feel what you feel without becoming a prisoner to those feelings of overwhelming emotions, the anger, the shame and the need to collapse.
Therapy is not meant to treat your horrendous event, abuse, rape, molestation or trauma. What has happened to you cannot be undone. But what can be dealt with and worked on are the imprints of the trauma on the body, mind and soul, those crushing sensations in your chest that you may label as anxiety or depression; the fear of losing control; always being vigilant of danger or rejection; the self-loathing; the nightmares and flashbacks; the fog that keeps you from engaging fully in what you are doing; being unable to fully open yourself up to another human being.
